We weigh in: Suggestions to the Board 

After four long months, we are pleased that the Board supported students' right to read and retained All Boys Aren't Blue, Fun Home, Gender Queer, and Lawn Boy. We are especially pleased that the Board had the courage to decline the recommendation of its Reconsideration Committee and retain This Book is Gay.

Throughout the four months of deliberations, we have monitored the reconsideration process and identified lapses and areas of concern. In addition, we thoroughly reviewed the Reconsideration Committee's report, Policies and Regulations 2530 and 9130, and the text of This Book is Gay. 

On January 31, 2022, we sent the Board our analysis and recommendations in a report entitled "This Book Must Stay: Response to the NH-V Reconsideration of This Book is Gay." The report discusses our concerns with the reconsideration process, provides a line-by-line rebuttal of the Reconsideration Committee's report on This Book is Gay, and concludes with a series of constructive recommendations for improving the reconsideration process.
